Jean Royère Marquetry Suite

Niki de Saint Phalle Fauteuil Serpent

Founded by Jean-Gabriel Mitterrand in 1988 in the Marais district of Paris, Galerie Mitterrand is known for spotlighting sculpture by visionary artists. Case in point, this exuberant Serpent chair by the inimitable Niki de Saint Phalle, who began her career as a painter in 1950. Her work has attracted renewed interest in recent years.


Charlotte Perriand Free Form Desk

When François Laffanour opened Galerie Downtown in Paris in 1982, he quickly recognized the importance of the work of Pierre Jeanneret, Le Corbusier, Jean Prouvé, and Charlotte Perriand. This cherrywood desk by French architect and designer Charlotte Perriand is a masterpiece, featuring a curved top covered by tawny leather, resting on three ovoid legs.

Informed by natural habitats and ad hoc processes, the French-Danish creative duo OrtaMiklos’ experimental approach challenges existing norms. At Design Miami Basel/ 2021, OrtaMiklos debuts their new work Sunset Phenomena with Friedman Benda—a gallery that identifies and advances key narratives that intersect contemporary design, craft, architecture, fine art, and cutting-edge technological research.


Germans Ermičs Sunburst Chair

Maria Wettergren opened her gallery in 2010 in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris, and specializes in contemporary Scandinavian design and art. This sculptural glass chair in flaming colors, Sunburst Tall Glass Chair, expresses the delicate balance between two clashing polarities: A perceived fragility and an imagined state of solidness. The result is a sublime frozen moment between stability and collapse.


Jean Brisy Untitled

Alain Lebreton and Karim Mehanna founded Lebreton to realize their combined ambition of promoting and preserving the works of major post-war French and European artists. Lebreton presents a distinguished and unique selection of artist-designed furniture and mid-twentieth century ceramics, works of art and sculptures by major French and European modern and post-war artists. This Jean Brisy Untitled piece is a patinated and glazed abstract ceramic sculpture.
