Description/
Ruri Takeuchi’s White Dew has a charming, rounded form. The off-white, almost cream colored porcelain pairs well with the luxurious gold kintsugi on the side of the form. The illustration of rose colored flower buds is spontaneous, almost as if the artist illustrated the branches free-handedly. The lifework is precise and the over-glazed colors of green and pink sit on top of the outlines, like drops of dew on the surface. The composition is lush and the branches travel inside the form as well, creating one solid composition.
Ruri Takeuchi
designer
Upon graduating Kyoto's School of Traditional Arts and Crafts, Ruri Takeuchi apprenticed under the renown porcelain artist Chousa Yamamoto. Enchanted by traditional Kaga crafts and Kutani porcelain painting, she soon dedicated herself to learning Kutani techniques.
From lush leaves to a rabbit's twinkling eye, her designs encapsulate refinement and elegance in the littlest details. Trinket boxes, delicate figurines—no matter the piece, Takeuchi aims to condense a single universe within it. Her paintings transport you into the serene beauty of nature, towards teeming thickets and soft, spring breezes.
