Description/
This organic piece features a naturally earthly, wood-like quality obtained through the designer’s creative process and choice of raw material: Tótora’s bench base is made of cardboard, recycled through an innovative sustainable process, molded by hand, sun dried and finished to perfection.
Domingos Tótora
designer
Domingos Tótora – born and raised in Maria da Fé, a mining town in the Mantiqueira mountain range. He studied in São Paulo and, back in his village, chooses cardboard as the raw material for his work – which transits between art and design. In his habitat of expression and experimentation, in addition to his roots and affective bonds, he finds his main source of inspiration, nature. From cardboard recycling, the artist creates objects and sculptures where beauty is inseparable from function. It grants art status to simple everyday pieces..
