Penzai Table V

$42,000.00

Description/

The Penzai Collection is a culmination of a three year collaboration between French artist Emma Donnersberg and Chilean-born designer Abel Cárcamo. The collaboration was born from their shared interest in artisanal dexterity and process, as well as their common sensibility for sculpture and abstract forms. Working with Founderie Fusions, the artists hand molded sculptural designs in plaster and worked with artisans, primarily in bronze, to materialize their designs using the lost-wax technique.

"EMMA DONNERSBERG
Emma Donnersberg is a Paris-based designer whose young body of work has already gained international recognition. The designer’s artistic vocabulary draws inspiration from the natural world, where Donnersberg has translated the sensuous lines of clouds, mushrooms, and Bonsai, amongst others, into functional and sculptural design pieces.

She collaborates with mastercraftsmen all over the globe in a span of materials. Her collaboration with Abel Cárcamo was born from their shared interest in artisanal dexterity and process, as well as their common sensibility for sculpture and abstract forms. The pieces embody both designers' nature-inspired bodies of work and dedication to working with craftsmen that carry on time-honored techniques.

Born in France in 1977, interior designer and design publisher Emma Donnersberg left Europe and moved to the United States in 2000 to complete her Bachelor of Arts degree at Tulane University, New Orleans. She subsequently graduated from Parson’s School of Design in New York with a focus on interior design. With offices in Paris and New York City, Donnersberg has built an international clientele, and has completed numerous, acclaimed interior design projects in both Europe and North America.

ABEL CÁRCAMO

Abel Cárcamo is a the Chilean-born designer who began exploring the materials of bronze, plaster, and wood in his Santiago studio. The designer now works out of Paris where he hand molds his sculptural designs in plaster and works with artisans, primarily in bronze, to materialize his
designs using the lost-wax technique. Cárcamo draws inspiration from everyday objects–from the present as well as the past– and the presence of meandering yet minimalist lines are consistent through his body of work.
