Laszlo’s designs were shown an interest in “new” materials – such as lucite, cork or bright colors and exploring new shapes. The table presented was made and sold in his studio in Los Angeles (stamped below). The top in cork in combination with the turquoise lacquered legs show the stunning combinations, Laszlo was capable of. The centerpiece inlay in “wave-structured” glass creates a beautiful shadow in the lacquered wood.

Paul Laszlo

Paul Laszlo was a Hungarian-born Architect and Designer, born in 1900 in Debrecen. While being a successful architect in Europe, the political climate forced him to leave his homeland. He went to the United States and ended up in California, where he stayed until his death. While he started in architecture, the interior work and commissioned furniture pieces soon became his main job and he realized only a few architectural projects in his career. He worked constantly in his own studio in Los Angeles, in the late 1940’s he additionally worked with Noguchi, Nelson, and Eames for the furniture company Herman Miller.
