Description/

Pre war tube radios were inexpensive single body pressed plastics. War time rationing of plastics necessitated the need for new material technologies and opened a brief window that resulted in the creation of hundreds of thousands of molded plywood radio casings. The Molded Plywood Division, based in Venice Beach, California and headed by Ray and Charles Eames, part of Evans Products, manufactured radio cases for many major Radio manufacturers. This was an important step in the development of the later molded plywood furniture that would make the Eames and Herman Miller internationally famous.
