At Design Miami, Wexler Gallery will debut a limited-edition black ash version of Jomo Tariku’s iconic Meedo chair, the walnut version of which is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The chair is evocative of the hair combs of his native Africa.

Ethiopian American artist and industrial designer Jomo Tariku is a pioneer of modern African design. Visually striking, yet effortlessly functional, his work is rooted in Africa’s rich cultural heritage. Jomo’s interest was sparked by the diverse art and created objects his family collected during their travels across Africa and beyond. His craft expresses a modern harmony of heritage, humanity, and design sensibility.
