Limited Edition Rug: Kim Gordon Fung Dress

Description/

Celebrated for her work as a founding member of the experimental post-punk band Sonic Youth, KIM GORDON is a multi-disciplinary artist and thinker who has worked in fashion, visual art, writing, film, and music. Gordon’s rug is one in a series of three, and is an adaptation of a vintage dress treated with tar and morphed into an abstract shape.

Calle Henzel

designer

Calle Henzel has over the past twenty years translated his artistic practice as painter and collage artist into the medium of textiles, positioning Henzel Studio as one of the most progressive luxury rug brands in the world. While remaining at the forefront of design, Henzel Studio’s foundation and raison d’être lies in the artisanal production of local communities in Nepal and India that dates back thousands of years.

To expand on this practice, HENZEL STUDIO: COLLABORATIONS / HERITAGE was conceived as a continuous initiative curated by Joakim Andreasson, inviting some of the most prominent contemporary artists of our time to freely and seamlessly translate their work through an alternate media and the extraordinary practices that are involved in the making of Henzel Studio's rugs.

Through this program, Calle Henzel has collaborated with some of the most prominent names in contemporary art, including Nan Goldin, Richard Prince, Juergen Teller, Marilyn Minter, Jack Pierson, Helmut Lang, Anselm Reyle, Douglas Gordon, Richard Phillips, and the estates of Andy Warhol and Tom of Finland.
