Bijeen

Latiguillo is part of The Podium Series; a set of lamps made by Bijeen between 2020-2021. The idea behind these series is to explore the beauty of rough, ready-made industrial materials.
Latiguillo is made with a flexible hose as the starting point. The 1/2’’- 1/2’’ bolts on each side of the flexible hose set the dimensions of the other elements assembled to it.

Bijeen is a a multidisciplinary design platform founded by architects Marina Lladó and Enric Bultó.

Bijeen arises from the question of how to understand the design process of the 21st century. Today’s world is non-linear, with no definite boundaries and ambiguous. Reality is made up of elements that are no longer static or differentiated, but mixed and fluid. A wide range of parameters and influences converge on and interfere with the design process.

Bijeen escapes the ideology of the universal and reductive, quite the opposite, as they opt for evolution and the experimental process, with a subjective materialization and an open end.
