The ‘Lacquer Landscape’ table series expresses François Mascarello’s talent for experimenting with materials and artistic techniques. To create each work, François Mascarello first composes a landscape on a computer. The abstract composition is then reproduced on wood, with different pieces that fit closely together like a puzzle. Each piece of wood is lacquered twice and then varnished three times. The lacquer marquetry is thus transformed into a highly durable an glossy material, suitable for functional use as a table top.
