This magnificent oak box is an absolute rarity as it was designed by the leading designer of twentieth-century design, Jean-michel Frank, for his Partner Adolphe Chanaux in 1935. Its modernist oak silhouette is uplifted by the silver monogramm “AC”.
Frank and Chanaux worked together for about 10 years until they joined their artistic forces and opened a shop, located at 140 rue du Faubourg Saint- Honoré, in 1932. The decorators were responsible for elegant and subtle decorations. They created projects for Marie- Laure and Charles Noailles, Nelson Rockefeller and Louis Aragon.
There are very few pieces that came from Chanaux directly and this box is one of them which makes it very special.
