Jean-Luc Le Mounier says of his approach to design, “I reinterpret natural decorative elements often related to architecture: the breakwaters of Saint-Malo, the mussel piles of Cancale, or windbreaks dunes of Sables d’Or les Pins.” Vers le Large, a tall standing cabinet fitted with twelve cleverly hidden drawers, symbolizes a graphic representation of the piers that advance towards the sea in Le Mounier’s town of Brittany (North-West of France). The cabinet stands on ten white bronze sculpted legs reflecting the weather worn wooden stakes of a pier, conveying the passage of time. Le Mounier lives and works in Brittany (North-West of France). Le Mounier spent much of his childhood in his grandfather’s carpentry workshop where he would craft tiny pieces of furniture with the tools and materials he could find there. Fascinated with wood, he started his training as a cabinetmaker in 1995. In 2003, Le Mounier opened his own workshop where he could express his passion and explore the many possibilities of crafting unique furniture design.

White bronze and black engraved.
