German jeweler Gerd Rothmann is recognized widely for his works bearing fingerprints as his signature. In addition to jewelry, Rothmann is an accomplished Silversmith, and his theme of the imprints carries on in his hand and hammer formed vessels. Spuren Bei Der Arbeit is the largest platter to date, with a 50 cm diameter and a multitude of fingerprints along the edge, each one cast and fitted into place meticulously.
Rothmann’s works can be found in countless museum collections worldwide, including the MET, the MFA Houston, MFA Boston, the Victoria & Albert, the Munich Design Museum and many more.
