Description/
Fuji’ Tea Bowl by Ruri Takeuchi is an elegant thrown form. The slight curvature of the body of the tea bowl towards the lip beautifully contrasts the with the foot of the tea bowl. The gold foot is then juxtaposed by a thin porcelain band that brings the whole form together. The china painting of wisteria flowers is more symmetrical and patterned than organic and spontaneous. As usual with Ruri Takeuchi’s work, the imagery on the surface travels inside the form.

designer
Upon graduating Kyoto's School of Traditional Arts and Crafts, Ruri Takeuchi apprenticed under the renown porcelain artist Chousa Yamamoto. Enchanted by traditional Kaga crafts and Kutani porcelain painting, she soon dedicated herself to learning Kutani techniques.
From lush leaves to a rabbit's twinkling eye, her designs encapsulate refinement and elegance in the littlest details. Trinket boxes, delicate figurines—no matter the piece, Takeuchi aims to condense a single universe within it. Her paintings transport you into the serene beauty of nature, towards teeming thickets and soft, spring breezes.
