Description/
Anthropomorphic light sculpture from the series ‘Obsolete Goøds’.
Aparicio observed that in archeological excavations there is always something found in fired clay, from utensils to sculptures, as well as glass and stone. Because they were objects widely available, and also stable, resisting well the passing of time.
Thinking about how to make her own practice more sustainable, the artist started incorporating in her functional sculptures, glass parts from brutalist lamps that have become obsolete not by malfunction, but by trend. Bringing them back to a second life in the contemporary world. ‘Because I want us to look to the future through a rear mirror’, the artist says.
Materials: Glass, Stoneware, Cork, LED.
