There is a clear connection between the consistency that Skov Madsen establishes in her research of surfaces, material and ornamentalism, and her efforts that carry the exploration of form systems. It is the repetitions and the variations in the sequences that absorb her interest. Skov Madsen has a cool and rational approach, which- almost against expectations- emanates utterly sensual and palpably interesting results.
The field of exploration for Lone Skov Madsen’s ceramic practice lies in the intertwined relationship between design and crafts with the vase, the jar and the tray as the most frequently occurring object categories.
The works from the dot and net series are based on the concept of the vessel and conceptually and deliberately simulate familiar functional objects. However, the ceramic works derive their focus and strength through the exploration and studies of form, fabric and ornamentation.
