Description/
A master at combining materials, Markus Haase’s one-of-a-kind handcrafted foyer table features an asymmetric sculpted American black walnut top resting on a bronze tripod, supported by a carved limestone base. The organically shaped bronze tripod is sculpted in foam and then cast in mirror polished bronze. Contrasting the brilliance of the tripod’s mirror polished bronze, the soft hand-carved limestone base anchors the table in perfect harmony. Taking inspiration from the twisting forms of seaweed and other natural materials, this table is a strong example of the demand for contemporary design objects to hold as much structural function as exemplary sculptural integrity.
In 2013, Haase launched his first series of sculptural design exclusively with Todd Merrill Studio. Since then, his work has attracted the attention of designers, critics, and collectors worldwide. Haase creates unique works of art, sculptural pieces of furniture, and lighting design that demonstrate his sculpting virtuosity through his works that imbue wood, metal, and stone with a remarkable sense of fluidity and movement.
