Description/
The BORO-01 side table is the first piece of a series of glass and borosilicate objects by Manu Bañó.
This new collection distances from the hardness of metal and explores a more delicate world of fragile and transparent objects that are almost invisible, that disappear.
BORO-01 is based on the same principle as the OBJ collection, transforming a material in its commercial format into a sculptural and utilitarian object, in this case using solid borosilicate bars. These are grouped together with an MDF and asbestos mold that keeps them in a vertical position. The top of the borosilicate sticks are then set on fire for hours and the material gradually melts. Using graphite tools, the glowing mass of borosilicate is gently pressed to join all the bars together and create a useful surface as a table.
With a simple melting gesture, the borosilicate sticks are transformed into a functional piece.
