Dana Harel

WHITE DIRT produces limited-edition functional objects derived from unique sculptural forms by San Francisco-based founding artist Dana Harel. Dana was born and raised in Tel Aviv, Israel and currently works in San Francisco. She is an artist and trained architect, where she designs sculptural pieces that are associated with daily rituals, that nourish and inspire. Dana's work examines the human psyche and body, our relationship to built and natural environments, and contrasting characteristics. Designing these sculptural forms is first and foremost a practice of spirit, not the mind.

Each piece comes from a process of pouring, hardening, and shaping the materials to find the functional object in the form. As the form is discovered, so is its purpose. Consistent throughout each WHITE DIRT collection is the artist's embrace of the inherent quality of materials and the techniques she employs for their transformation. WHITE DIRT objects are designed for everyday use, yet each piece maintains the allure of art. Dana received her Bachelor of Architecture degree from California College of the Arts in San Francisco, CA.
