Description/

Duo designers Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby have combined modern technology with traditional know-how in their Bell Lamp for Louis Vuitton’s Objets Nomades collection. Inside the handcrafted frosted glass “bell” with its attractive Nomade leather carrying strap, is a dimmable LED lamp that delivers up to 30 hours of light without recharging. A truly “nomadic” accessory, it creates a glowing aura of elegance wherever it goes.

Color: Sunrise.

Barber Osgerby

designer

Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby founded their eponymous studio in 1996 after graduating with Master’s degrees in Architecture from the Royal College of Art in London. Their multidisciplinary practice challenges the boundaries of industrial design, architecture and art.

In 2002, they were asked to design furniture for Portsmouth Cathedral in England, and in 2004 were awarded the Jerwood Applied Arts Prize. In 2007, Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby were commissioned to design the reception area at the Royal Institute of British Architects in Portland Place, London, and, the same year, were appointed Royal Designers for Industry (RDI) by the Royal Society of Arts.

Their research has led to their developing furnishing collections for a number of prestigious European companies. Their work is held in permanent collections around the world, including the V&A Museum and the Design Museum in London, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Art Institute of Chicago and the Indianapolis Museum of Art. They were also selected by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) to design the 2012 Olympic torch.
