Description/
Hydrochrom, stemming from the Greek expression for the color of water, is a series of sculptural glassworks. Glass cubes are formed and then combined into assemblages. Some become light sculptures through the use of LED fixtures piercing through the core of the glass, as in this work, Aegean. Others act as pure glass sculptures. Finally, some are transformed into sound sculptures, playing an original ambient oceanic soundtrack, allowing the glass to be translated into a sonic medium. From the blue bubbly glass texture and the naming of the pieces after different seas, Hydrochrom is an ode to the ocean.
Hydrochrom is a series of sculptural glassworks hand-blown in Los Angeles. Aegean is a unique piece in an edition of 7 featuring assembled blue glass cubes and a copper lighting element. Named after the seas; Hydrochrom is an ode to the ocean.
Sébastien Léon
designer
Sébastien Léon's work brings to life ethereal physical environments and sculptures that are at once tangible, familiar, and yet unmistakably abstract. His designs, typically relying on tubular metallic structures, are strongly influenced by his immediate environment. His decade in New York translates into collections inspired by the world of construction sites, and his move to California morphs into designs drawn from insects, rock formation, and the ocean.
