Michel Anasse is a French Postwar & Contemporary artist who was born in 1935. It was the time of the tremendous bombardments of napalm and pellet bombs when Michel Anasse, inspired by artists like Picasso and the poet Paul Éluard, created the Volumes Eclatés series. The goyesque volumes show us a fractured object that wants to be a peaceful vision of the future, of what awaits us. While we might be tempted to see animalistic forms, the volumes become a symbol of life and optimism.
