“I was only 26 years old when I started studying architecture, but at that point I’d already done nine years in fashion…The Architectural Association asked me in for an interview, and they said, “Bring your portfolio.” I didn’t have a portfolio, so they said: “Well, you must have some sketches or something?” So I turned up at the AA in top-to-toe Azzedine Alaïa, and I showed them all my fashion-show sketchbooks. It was hilarious!”
