Todd Merrill Twentieth Century and Studio Contemporary are known as the source for the best American and European vintage furniture and contemporary artist-produced decorative arts.
Todd Merrill is located in New York City’s only building by the father of American Modernism, esteemed architect Louis Sullivan. Merrill, a third generation dealer, opened his business in and quickly became known for a mix of American studio and custom furniture, as well as European furniture and lighting.
In 2008, Rizzoli published Merrill's book Modern Americana: From High Craft to High Glam, the first book to define the genre of American Studio and custom furniture of the post-war period. In 2009 , Merrill launched Studio Contemporary to showcase the work of established and emerging studio artists including Michael Coffey, Joseph Walsh and Yardsale Project. Studio Contemporary has become an exhibition-based artists showcase, showing at the best art and design fairs in the world. New artists include Beth Katleman, Katsuyo Aoki and Jeanne Quinn.
