For the last five years, Didier and Martine Haspeslagh have specialized in jewelry by leading post-war painters and sculptors. These jewels are valid expressions of the artists’ oeuvre - small wearable sculptures, made either as unique pieces, often personal gifts for family and friends, or produced in small limited editions. Although these represent miniature works of art for the artist, they are often very large and make a dramaticstatement when worn. They can be made in gold, silver, brass or wood. The intrinsic value of thpiece is largely immaterial for the artist and gemstones are rarely used.

The jewels exhibited are mostly historical pieces and date primarily from the 1940s to 1980s. The program of Didier Ltd is unique worldwide, and is in the special position of being able to select works that best reflect the themes of the artists’ work. It is an area of art that has been neglected for the past 50 years and one currently undergoing a renaissance. Didier Ltd will be showing works by American artists such as Alexander Calder, Louise Nevelson, George Rickey and Jose de Creeft; Latin American artists including Wifredo Lam, Roberto Matta, Jesus Rafael Soto, and Oswaldo Guayasamin; and European Modern Masters, namely Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Arnaldo Pomodoro, Fernand Leger, Claude Lalanne, Jean Arp and Andre Derain.
