Design Miami/ Basel presents its first annual Designer of the Future award to British design and manufacturing company Established & Sons. The team was chosen to inaugurate this award because their visionary approach has forged a new model for design companies of the 21st century.
In recognition of their award, Established & Sons has curated a special installation of their furniture collection at Design Miami/ Basel.
The Designer of the Future award honors emerging designers who broaden our understanding of design. By innovating new forms, exploiting new technologies, inventing new object-types, advancing new design philosophies and developing new approaches to the creative process, the Designer of the Future furthers the culture of design.

Established & Sons exemplify the ethos of this award by nurturing and promoting the best in cutting-edge British design and by providing an innovative platform for it to be realized. Their unique collaborative process merges the creative direction of a design studio with the production expertise of a manufacturer and the curatorial approach of a gallery. Enriching the design process from conception to collection, Established & Sons have developed a new prototype for what 'the designer' of the future can be.
The Designer of the Future award, which complements the annual Design Miami Designer of the Year award inaugurated at Design Miami this past December, was selected by thirty influential museum directors, curators, journalists, designers, and high-profile dealers.

The award gives the recipientthe unique opportunity to exhibit alongsidethe most reputable designers and designgalleries in the world — giving them high visibility and immediate access to the most influential members of the international design community.
For their Design Miami/ Basel installation, Established & Sons have selected pieces that demonstrate the range of their exceptional collection. From their Premier Production Collection, they will exhibit Zaha Hadid's Aqua Table, Mark Holmes' Pinch chair, Alexander Taylor's Fold lamps, and BarberOsgerby's Zero-In low table. They will also present Limited Editions of the Fold lamp in corten steel and the Zero-In low table in polished aluminum. From the New Collection 2006, Drift bench by Amanda Levete for Future Systems will be on display.

Since their international launch in April 2005 Established & Sons has become a byword for accomplished British furniture design and manufacture. From the production of a celebrated Premier Collection and comprehensive second collection to a unique Limited Edition range of furniture, the advance from fledgling company to established industry player has been a swift and exciting one.

Among the several awards they have received in the incredible year since their launch is the industry's highest accolade, the Red Dot Design Award for 2006, won by the Zero-Inby BarberOsgerby.
