Design Miami/ Basel represents the second phase of our revolutionary vision for the world of design. Less than a year ago, Design Miami (formerly design.05) set out to create a dynamic new forum for collecting, exhibiting, discussing and creating design. Propelled by the astonishing success of our premier event, Design Miami/ Basel extends our mission to Europe: to bring together the most influential designers, collectors, dealers, curators and critics from around the world to further the current design culture.

To complement the annual "Designer of the Year" award, Design Miami/ Basel will inaugurate an annual "Designer of the Future" award. In addition, Design Miami/ Basel will host three Design Talks, addressing the current state of the design market, the diverse approaches of today's designers and the multifaceted effects of the recent design boom.
A special installation by Vitra Design Museum will offer a preview of their upcoming exhibition "Jean Prouvé: The Poetics of the Technical Object."

Phaidon Press will be on site with a bookstore featuring "Phaidon Design Classics," the newly published three-volume survey of the greatest examples of product design from the 17th century to the present. Phaidon's store will also provide a selection of monographs on significant designers and architects. |
